What We Believe

Doctrinal Statement

Doctrinal Statement

1. We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments only, is plenarily and verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is without error and has been preserved by God in the Masoretic and Received Texts. The Bible is infallible and authoritative. We accept the Bible for our rule and practice and believe that it is sufficient for all aspects of the Christian life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 12:6-7.

2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and these Three are One God. Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:18-20 and 1 John 5:7. We further believe that all three Persons of the Godhead were active in the creation of the entire universe and that man was the crown of His creative work.

3. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God, and that He was born of a virgin, therefore truly man. We further believe that He died the substitutionary death on the cross, that He was buried and rose again from the dead on the third day and ascended to Heaven where He is presently exalted at the Father’s right hand, there interceding for believers. 1 Corinthians 15:1-9, Hebrews 7:25.

4. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convince sinners of their sin, and to reveal to such sinners that Christ died to pay the penalty of their sin. Furthermore, it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convince sinners that there is surely a final judgment coming for all who refuse God’s gracious offer of salvation, full and free, through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is also the ministry of the Holy Spirit to comfort believers and to open their hearts to give them understanding of God’s Holy Word. John 16:8, John 15:26, Ephesians 1:17.

5. We believe that Adam was created in the image of God and was tempted by Satan, the god of this world, thereby suffering a complete fall. Because of Adam’s fall, all men are born sinful and in need of the redemptive work of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:1-4, Romans 3:10-12, Romans 5:12, John 16:8 and Titus 3:5.

6. We believe that salvation consists of the remission of sins, the imputation of Christ’s righteousness, and the gift of eternal life. Salvation is received by faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, and Romans 10:9-10.

7. We believe that when a sinner has repented of his sins and has placed his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is kept by the power of God through all eternity and can never be lost again. Philippians 1:6, John 6:37 and John 10:27-29. However, Christian liberty cannot be used as an occasion to the flesh. Romans 13:13-14.

8. We believe that every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit and is therefore a “partaker of the divine nature.” Because the believer also has the remnants of the old nature, there is a battle that rages in the souls of the saints, the old nature against the new, God-given nature. Victory in these battles is accomplished by trusting the Lord to subdue that which is contrary in our hearts. 2 Peter 1:4, Galatians 5:16.

9. We believe that God’s children may experience divine healing in answer to prayer, but that the healing of all sickness and infirmity cannot presently be claimed on the basis of Christ’s atoning work. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.

10. We believe that the Christ-controlled life is evidence of the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We further believe that the Charismatic movement is unscriptural and should be shunned by all believers. Romans 8:1-17, 1 Corinthians 6:19, and 1 Corinthians 13:8.

11. We believe that Jesus Christ has commissioned His followers to go into all the world, preaching the Gospel and teaching all peoples the doctrines concerning God and man. Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, and Acts 1:8.

12. We believe that when the believer dies, his soul immediately goes to be with the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven, there to await the resurrection of his new body, when joining with the saints of all the ages, we shall meet the Lord in the air. All the saints will experience the full enjoyments of eternal life in the presence of God in Heaven. The bodies of the lost will also be raised from the dead and rejoined to their souls to face the judgment before the Great White Throne, there to be sent from the presence of Christ into everlasting and conscious punishment in the Lake of Fire. John 14:1-3, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17, Revelation 20:11-15.

13. We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord; that they should separate from all religious apostasy (including the National Council of Churches and the World Council of Churches), all religious compromise by such movements as Neo-evangelicalism and the Emerging Church, and from all teaching that adds to the finished work of Christ (such as psychological victory), and all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations as commanded of God, along with abstaining completely from the use of alcohol, tobacco or any other substance which does harm to the body, the brain, or takes control of the mind. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, and Ephesians 5:18.

14. We believe in the personal, bodily and premillenial return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth to set up His kingdom to rule on this earth for one thousand years. Matthew 24 and Revelation 20:4-6.
